Preferred Name Data Integration

Create a data integration between systems to leverage the preferred names/name-in-use and pronouns collected on admission applications. The data integration will allow for these names/pronouns to be visible from the beginning of a student's time as OSU as well as reduce the locations students need to enter/update this information.

Preliminary Grades

Due to the discontinuation of support for Self-Service Banner 8 (SSB8) by Ellucian, Self-Service Banner 9 (SSB9) will be utilized to ensure the continuity of the preliminary grading collection process. This project aims to implement, streamline and improve preliminary grade collection in SSB9, minimize unnecessary modifications, and ensure timely delivery of accurate data.

General Education Reform

On October 13, 2022, the Faculty Senate voted to approve the new General Education Curriculum proposed by the Baccalaureate Core Reform Committee. Among other things, this action updates a 30-year-old curriculum, reducing its size and improving its legibility for all students, introducing a new course category to support students’ transition to OSU, adding a sequence of touchpoints to incorporate career-readiness, and expanding instruction fostering understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Self-Service Banner (SSB) 8 Deprecation

OSU currently has many SSB modifications and also has many processes that utilize DocuSign forms. Moving to SSB9 will allow us to leverage the configurable environment and the most up-to-date interface to reduce modifications. In addition, UIT spends a significant amount of time supporting modifications, especially older modifications that are not well understood. Ellucian will deprecate SSB8 at the end of June 2023; it will no longer be supported beginning July 2023.

Financial Readiness and Success

The goal of this project is to set up structures to ensure we have payment plans flexible enough for all student types (part-time, full-time, aid recipients, self-pay, etc.), and mechanisms through which students and their families can gain financial literacy around college affordability. With these tools, we will be able to eliminate holds on transcripts for students who wish to transfer away from OSU, and we will support students in making prudent decisions financially by not allowing them to accumulate debt.

Strategic Plan 4.0 Actions*

S/U Phase II

The transition from Self-Service Banner 8 to Self-Service Banner 9, requires adjustments to the S/U process.

The transition will provide improvements surrounding inclusivity, automation, ARC petition numbers, and process clarity for staff and students.

Office of the Registrar Self-Assessment

The Office of the Registrar will be performing a comprehensive assessment guided by the American Association for Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Registrars Self-Assessment. This process creates a structure that allows for a deep review of practices, processes, and procedures. Additionally, looking at compliance areas, how our campus and community are being supported, and developing a future-oriented action plan.
