Prior to this project, advisor assignments could be entered manually in Banner, but the workload was too large for many colleges.  This project involved the creation of several jobs to allow the college head advisors the ability to upload a .CSV file, and run a job in Appworx to assign, reassign, or end advisor assignments in their college.  Additional jobs were created to allow a head advisor to download a list of advisor assignments and to allow the Office of the Registrar to end advisor assignments for graduated students. 

Our office partnered with INTO OSU to provide them with an Appworx process that would allow them to enter overrides in Banner for a population of students. These overrides were previously entered manually, and this became unsustainable as number of restrictions for classes grew.

OSU purchased a suite of tools from LeepFrog Technologies, which includes Course Inventory Management (CIM). This software integrates with Banner as well as the other tools that come with the suite, including an academic catalog tool and a course section scheduling tool. Implementation of CIM allows OSU to revise and improve the process of submitting curriculum proposals.

Our office partnered with the Academic Success Center to develop a faculty feedback/early alert mechanism at OSU. This mechanism allows for the reporting of students who are at academic risk. We leveraged baseline functionality in Banner Self-Service to provide a process where one can report off of, and be able to inform college advisors about the feedback the faculty have shared. This allows college advisors to partner with other academic support offices to alert students to university resources that may help with academic struggles.

Our office partnered with ECS to fix a job that, because of the timing of the job, prevented a student from being able to suppress their directory information using the directory profile preferences page in Self-Service. A new Appworx process was created to look for students with missing directory profile details and insert the missing details. 

Previously, undergraduate students were able to submit their graduation application via Online Services. The Honors College students’ Undergraduate Research Fellow paper titles were entered in Banner and tied to the student application for graduation sequence. With Institutional Awarding, students would not have an application to graduate on file. A new process ties the Honors College students’ UG Research Fellow paper titles in Banner. 

The OtR developed an Appworx process that notifies students prior to the inactivation of their general record following a consecutive four term period of not enrolling in courses at OSU.  This notification also provides additional information on the readmission process and ONID account expiration.

Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society has been granted permission to notate students’ memberships on their academic transcripts upon graduation. We have developed an annual process to load these transcript notations following the annual induction of new members. 

Starting in Summer 2019, our office partnered with our diploma vendor to mail original diplomas to new graduates at no cost to the student. Duplicate diploma orders are now also handled by the diploma vendor. This has streamlined our processes and increased recognition of our graduates’ accomplishments.
