Voter Registration Deadline Coming Soon

From: Office of Government Relations

OSU community members,

Voting is one of the most powerful ways we engage in our communities, state, and nation. With the 2026 Primary Election approaching, now is the time to make a plan to participate. Oregon’s vote-by-mail system makes it easy to exercise your right to vote. To vote in the May 19, 2026, election, you must register by Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

If you are not registered to vote, we encourage you to do so through the Oregon Secretary of State’s website.

If you are already registered to vote in Oregon, please take a moment to review your voter registration information through My Vote on the Secretary of State’s website.

It is essential to update your mailing address to where you will reside on May 19. In Oregon, having ballots mailed to your current mailing address is legal, even if that location differs from your residential voting address. Additionally, if you have changed your signature or party registration, you must update your voter registration information with the Secretary of State.

Ballots will start being mailed to voters on April 29th, 2026. To vote, mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, May 19, 2026. You can also manually deliver your ballot to an official election drop box until 8:00 PM on election day.

If you are registered in a different state and reside in Oregon, you must apply for an absentee ballot through your home county or state’s elections office. It is not legal for anyone, including the post office, to forward your ballot.

More information for student voters is available here.

Please take the time to register to vote — and once registered, please participate in the election. If you have questions or need information about voter registration, please visit the appropriate elections office website:
