Dear OSU Community Members,

Since its passage more than 50 years ago, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 has had a transformative impact by creating access, fairness, and equity through the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. While there is still much work to be done, we recognize the critical importance of our own compliance with this legislation as it evolves and of the real-world impact it continues to have here at Oregon State.

Last month, the Department of Education released long-awaited updated Title IX regulations, which will become effective on August 1, 2024. A workgroup has been convened and has already begun discussing policy and process changes that both comply with the new federal regulations and align with Oregon State University values. The workgroup will continue to consult with various university stakeholders to receive feedback and to provide updates on anticipated changes. More information on changes to OSU policy and process will be forthcoming. For further information on the updated regulations, please feel free to review the following documents provided by the Department of Education.

Oregon State University is committed to creating and maintaining an equitable and inclusive working and learning environment free of all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
