Dear OSU Community Members,

Please join me on Monday, Veterans Day, by honoring the many contributions of our nation’s veterans and the continuing service of U.S. active-duty military personnel around the world.

Within Beaver Nation, veterans and active-duty personnel play a vital role. They include students, employees and volunteers in a variety of OSU programs. Over many decades, OSU has proudly educated and trained military leaders. In fact, during World War II, OSU was referred to as the “West Point of the West.”

Today, Oregon State maintains a stellar reputation as a veteran and military-friendly university by providing support and resources specifically for the military-connected community. Support includes services to help students maximize their military education benefits, flexible course scheduling for active-duty personnel and resources to help veterans make a successful transition from the military to college and career.

OSU’s Holcomb Center in Corvallis, along with the Veterans Lounge at OSU-Cascades, and student clubs build community and camaraderie for students in Corvallis, Bend and online. And community members who would like to support veteran and military students, can do so through the OSU Foundation, as part of the Believe It campaign.

This week, OSU recognized veterans and active-duty personnel with a host of events, including a resource fair at the Holcomb Center on the Corvallis campus and a town hall focusing on OSU’s support of veteran mental health and wellness.

So, please, make time on Monday to reflect on the service, sacrifice and many contributions of the veterans and active-duty personnel both in your lives and families and at Oregon State University.
