Dear OSU Community Members,

Effective June 16, 2023, Oregon State University will no longer require proof of COVD-19 vaccination. Until then, OSU will continue to require all employees and students who work, learn, or engage with others in-person to show proof of their primary series of vaccination.

This decision is informed by consultation with local public health authorities and reflects an updated assessment of the merits of a requirement versus voluntary compliance under present pandemic conditions and vaccination protocols.

We have come a long way since the outset of the pandemic in 2020. OSU’s vaccination requirement helped the university community obtain a high degree of immunity and was a critical component of Oregon State’s public health response during the pandemic. I thank each of you for contributing to shared community health and wellness.

Starting April 3 and in accordance with Oregon Health Authority guidance, employees, patients and visitors within campus healthcare settings will no longer be required to wear masks. Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services on the Corvallis campus will continue to have masks available for anyone not feeling well or for those who feel more comfortable wearing a mask.

We recognize that COVID-19, as well as other respiratory illnesses remain present in the university and broader community. As always, please stay home if you are not feeling well. We encourage you to stay up-to-date on your own flu and COVID-19 vaccines, and if you test positive for COVID-19 and are an employee (including student employees), remember that OSHA continues to require you to inform your supervisor of an infection. Guidance for both employee and supervisor is found on the Beaver Healthy website. As always, we will continue to monitor public health conditions and adjust as necessary.
