Dear OSU Community –

I regretfully write to share that the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Keynote with Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor scheduled for Jan. 31 is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. We hope to reschedule the event for a later date and will communicate details if and when they are available.

While we regret the Day of Service, Peace Breakfast and Keynote Address events did not occur as planned this year, the Commemoration was a success as OSU community members engaged throughout the month to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and impact.

We are also honored to recognize the recipients of this year’s Commemoration Legacy Awards. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Legacy Awards recognize members of the Oregon State community who advance Dr. King's vision for a more just society. Four legacy awards are typically presented by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Committee at the annual Peace Breakfast. Additionally, Oregon State University awards a Skanner Foundation Scholarship to an OSU student as part of The Skanner Foundation's annual MLK Breakfast in Portland.

Please join me in honoring the 2024 Legacy Awards and OSU-Skanner Foundation Scholarship recipients:
