From: Office of Academic Affairs
Dear students,
As winter term begins and COVID-19 case counts rise, we encourage you to remain focused, attend classes and keep your learning on track. We recognize your class attendance or in-person instruction could be temporarily impacted by the Omicron wave, but on-campus classes will continue to be held in person as much as feasible, and you should plan to attend in person.
Public health authorities have informed us that transmission of the virus has been mitigated in classrooms where the vast majority of people are vaccinated and where everyone is wearing masks. Below you will find information to guide you as we navigate the latest COVID-19 wave.
-
We continue to plan for campus classes to be held in person, unless an instructor is required to isolate and cannot teach in person, or a course instructor and their supervisor determine that student learning would be better if the class were delivered remotely for a short time, because many students in a class are in isolation.
-
If you have to isolate because of a positive test result and/or because you are symptomatic, you should engage with your instructor to catch up on any class work you may miss. Because health authorities have reduced isolation periods to five days (if symptoms are resolving), we do not anticipate your learning to be disrupted by a short absence from class.
-
If you remain symptomatic for a longer period of time, be sure to be in touch with your instructor and your advisor (or major professor) about the best way for you to continue successfully with your learning.
-
Instructors will make the best decisions feasible for helping you to continue learning if you are in isolation. You only need to engage with your instructors regarding remote learning options if you are required to be in isolation due to COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive.
We have communicated with OSU teaching faculty expressing the need for compassion and understanding as we all work together through these challenging times. Thank you for contributing to helping contribute to campus community wellness.
