From: Associated Students of Oregon State University, Elections Committee

Dear students,

Looking to get involved in student leadership at OSU? Now is the time to register as a candidate for the 2022 ASOSU (Student Government) Election!

The Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU) is the recognized student government for OSU’s Corvallis students. Student government at OSU includes a variety of responsibilities and opportunities for advocacy on behalf of students. These include:

  • Reviewing and voting upon incidental fee levels to be approved by the Board of Trustees, as detailed in ORS 352.105. During the current fiscal year, this comprised over $26 million in student fees. It’s your money — have a say in where it goes!
    • This includes budgetary oversight for eight incidental fee-funded units: ASOSU, Family Resource Center (FRC), Human Services Resource Center (HSRC), Intercollegiate Athletics, Memorial Union (MU), Performing Arts, Recreational Sports, and Student Experiences and Engagement (SEE).
  • Advocating for student needs on the local, state, and federal level, and at the university itself.
  • Serving as a liaison between the student body and university leadership, including faculty and administration.

We encourage all interested students to run. With 39 offices up for election, there are abundant opportunities to represent your unique perspective on behalf of your fellow students at OSU. These include:

  • Members of the ASOSU Senate (6)
  • Graduate Members of the ASOSU House of Representatives (5)
  • Undergraduate Members of the ASOSU House of Representatives (20)
  • ASOSU Speaker of the House (1)
  • ASOSU President (1)
    • ASOSU Vice President (1)
  • ASOSU Student Fee Committee (SFC) At-Large Members (4)
  • ASOSU Student Fee Committee (SFC) Chair (1)

Candidate registration closes Tuesday, February 8, at 11:59:59 p.m. PST. The candidate registration form, as well as additional information, are located on the ASOSU website. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected]!

Ballots will open February 14 at 9 a.m., and close March 4 at 5 p.m. PST. All Corvallis students are strongly encouraged to vote in the student body elections.

Good luck!

Dylan Perfect, ASOSU Vice President

Chair of the Elections Committee
