Grader & Teaching Assistant (TA) Policy

Project Summary

This project will align the Grader and Teaching Assistant policy with the Office of the Registrar guidelines on student access to other students’ education data and will implement the new policy within Canvas.

This will be a one-time change of policy and consequent processes.

Status Report
►3/19/2026: Continuing to connect with leadership and conducting research.
►1/22/2026: The provost will move this forward, and as asked about what other institutions do.
►9/25/2025: Due to staffing changes, this will continue with the provost.
►7/21/2025: Addressing questions from associate deans and is currently with the vice provost.
►1/16/2025: The policy is scheduled for review with HR and Associate Deans
►9/26/2024: The policy is scheduled to go to the University Policy Committee
►3/28/2024: Review by policy office complete. Final edits are being drafted.
►11/16/2023: The work is close to completion. General Council recommendations made.
►7/20/2023: The draft policy is under review by the policy owner; then it will go through the formal policy review process and be out for public comment.
►4/6/2023: The proposal will be sent to the graduate council for review this spring.
►7/28/2022: The policy has been passed to the new Policy Director in Faculty Affairs for review, updates, and starting the policy through the formal policy committee process for OSU approval.
►4/28/2022: General counsel has responded to initial draft/problem statements. Currently updating draft based on their guidance.
►1/27/2022: Will present the policy to the Associate Deans in mid-February then to legal counsel. The systematic implementation is around 75 percent complete.
