From: Office of the President

Dear OSU Community Members,

Please join me on Wednesday, April 27, by participating in Dam Proud Day, Oregon State University’s annual day of fun, engagement and philanthropy hosted by the OSU Foundation.

More than 80% of the funds raised during this 24-hour event will benefit students directly, and the balance will support other university priority programs and initiatives.

Employee, student, donor, alumni and OSU community member engagement is key to Dam Proud Day’s success, as is loudly proclaiming the achievements, contributions and momentum occurring throughout Oregon State University.

This year Dam Proud Day will include a livestream event that begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the plaza in front of Gill Coliseum on the Corvallis campus. Join your friends for free popcorn, a photo booth, a T-shirt and other fun giveaways throughout day in the Memorial Union quad. Here’s a link to all Dam Proud Day events, including activities at OSU-Cascades and in Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square, adjacent to the OSU Portland Center.

You also can engage by sharing information about OSU and Dam Proud Day with friends and others on social media, by email or text, or in person. If able, please consider making a contribution to Dam Proud Day to support OSU students and other learners that the university serves statewide. You can contribute to more than 110 listed programs, or you may designate contributions to other OSU-related philanthropic causes.

Four current and former OSU Foundation trustees, who are OSU alums – Eric Schoenstein ‘88, Penny Atkins ‘79, John Stirek ‘82, and Ruth Beyer ’77 – have collaborated to offer $100,000 in challenge incentives to be awarded to OSU colleges, units and projects with the most Dam Proud Day alumni donors, individual gifts, dollars raised and other categories. Many other alumni, supporters and university leaders are offering nearly 70 challenge gifts to inspire engagement and provide additional funds.

My wife, Lori, and I are pleased to offer a challenge to inspire giving to OSU-Cascades and to sponsor an inaugural OSU President’s Challenge. This challenge enables university community members to vote for their favorite among five foundation funds that support students. Each fund will receive a prize determined by the number of votes it receives.

Dam Proud Day also is a powerful way to promote to others OSU’s significant impact in Oregon and beyond. Please take this moment to get loud and proudly promote OSU.

Thank you for considering ways to personally be involved in Dam Proud Day and to all who have worked so hard to make it a special day. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together during Dam Proud Day, which will surely be a great day to be a Beaver.

Sincerely,

Becky Johnson, Interim President
