Priority Registration

How Do I View My Registration Date and Time?

To view your assigned registration date and time, log in to MyOregonState, click on the Academics tab. Under Resources select Check Your Registration Status. Registration status and times will be available approximately two weeks before registration begins. If you have a hold which prevents registration, you must first take the steps necessary to clear the hold before you can register.

Registration PIN

All degree-seeking undergraduates (include postbaccs) must have a Registration PIN (Personal Identification Number) to register for classes. Registration PINs are provided by colleges at the time of advising. Graduate students and non-degree students are not required to have registration PINs.

Priority Registration Phases

Registration has two phases. Students may register during their assigned time for that phase or at any later time.

Here is how it works for undergraduates:

  • Phase 1 allows registration in a maximum of 16 credits. No wait listing of classes is allowed.
  • Phase 2 allows registration in a maximum of 19 credits plus a maximum of three wait listed classes.
Fall 2020 Phase 1 Schedule

Graduate Students At the assigned registration date, all degree seeking master-level students may begin registering on Sunday, May 17 at 6:00 AM and all doctoral students may register on Sunday, May 17 starting at 7:00 AM.

Undergraduate Students Students are assigned a registration date and time based on class level and total earned and in-progress hours. It’s possible that students with the same class level and credit hours may have different registration dates/times. Indicated below is the earliest access time for each class level to register during Phase 1.

Registration Priority by Student Status

Students are assigned a registration time based on their class level and their in-progress and earned credits. The more credits students have earned, the earlier they may register.

  • Disability Access Services (DAS) approves priority registration for students with disabilities on a case by case basis.
  • Graduate and professional students will be able to register at the beginning of priority registration.
  • Post-Baccalaureate students will be able to register after undergraduate seniors.
  • Athletes and Honors College students are provided with priority time slots to accommodate their special scheduling needs.
  • Veterans who submit appropriate documentation are eligible for priority registration. Visit the Veteran Priority Registration page for more information.
When and how are PINs assigned?

The Office of the Registrar assigns registration PINs and times to students at the beginning of the current term for the next available registration term. There is no priority registration for Summer terms.

Timeline for PIN Assignments

Week 3

Registration PINs for the following term start being assigned to students automatically based on rules set up for individual colleges.

Weeks 3–4

Some students are assigned PINs manually based on a particular status, for example disability access students, First-Year Experience students, student athletes, and international students. It is possible that a student’s PIN and time will change to reflect a particular status.

Week 4

At the end of Week 4, advisors are notified that PINs and registration times are finalized.

Weeks 5–7

Advisors meet with students to distribute PINs and plan registration schedules.

Week 7

Priority registration Phase 1 opens at the end of Week 7.
